Very beautiful game. It was fun playing this.
Loved the art style, animations, story, sounds and music.
Rated 5 stars! Well done Siegfried!

(+1)

Thank you so much for the nice feedback! It really means a lot :D

(+1)

I absolutely loved this game! It's my type of game and it's really hard to find games like these. Keep up the really good work, man! Can't wait to see other games you make in the future!! :)

(+1)

Thank you so much! Pixel art and retro is definitely my style so all my future games will be like this ;)

(+1)

Dude, awesome! The fact of being able to interact with everything was very cool.

" SPOLIER"

What happens if I change my PC's date in that scene?

Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it :)

Absolutely nothing... :X

(+1)

Thank you. I think the game is cute and lovely. I don't think being short is a problem but I do feel frustrating about a few nonsense puzzles.(But as the title, maybe nonsense is your design purpose)

Good work and plz make more games^_^

Thanks a lot! Yeah, some of the puzzles could use better hints.  Especially the search for the pin code. Which others did you have trouble with?

I sure will! :D

(+1)

Yeah, that one was tough, And finding the machine behind the drawing make me feel unfair too. Maybe other puzzles do have the same problem at some level, but they are fun or make me get the humor some way. I think make it easier and more interesting would be the point.

BTW, I think it can have fans on steam as free game, or even with a price(maybe around 1$). The game provided me a pretty interesting 30-min experience at least, some will love to pay for that I think^_^

I thought that one was really obvious with there only be one place with a painting and fridge right next to eachother... I'm glad you did like the other ones :)

The game is actually "pay what you want" on here and amazingly some people were really generous! I might put it on Steam together with a sequel when that happens ;)

(+1)

Thanks it was fun, i found the game on instagram :)

A little note : When you don't know the controls at first launch, you try SPACE bar or ENTER key to start the game but it doesn't work. I had to check on this page which key to hit.

also i donated, you should put this game on steam for like a little less than $1 imo :)

(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and donating!!!

Yeah, the controls aren't the best, I'll make sure to include an ingame screen in my next games that show the controls the first time you play.

What's your username on Instagram?

(+1)

my username is "wwhatevv". Congratz again on this very cool game !

(1 edit) (+1)

Just played your game and here is my verdict (drumroll) 100000/10! cant express enough happiness paying!

Music: Awesome

Looks amazing!

And I always chuckled to myself when a video game reference was made!

Perfect!

But, sadly, now your OBLIGATED to make another game in the same format with the Magikey. The people demand it!

Haha thank you so much! I'm so happy you love all of it :D

I don't see that as a sad thing, I'll gladly make a sequel and the Magickey will definitely return ;)

(+1)

Thats good... goooooooood  >:3

(+1)

This Game was so Much fun to play. I loved the Pixel art style that is in the game. it also has the funny humour that can give a little bit of a laugh. I would love to play more of the games that you make in the Future.

Thanks again for playing! Really happy you loved the pixel art and found it funny :)
I'll sure be making more in the future!

(+1)

Thank you so much for making this game, it's the small games like these that make me enjoy recording so much. It's one thing to play something you know will be well thought out and it's another things to look down into the smaller games that don't get enough spotlight. It wasn't to short it was a fun experience. (I think I got the majority of refrences by the way.)
(1 edit)

Thanks again! I wrote a comment on the video itself :)
Cute video thumbnail too, btw :D

(+1)

I really enjoyed this game! Are you gotta make a part 2?

(+1)

Thank you very much! I have a lot of ideas for a "sequel" so I'm sure it'll be made eventually ;)

(+1)

It was really fun, I am hardcore fan of point&click games especially retro style ones. I loved everything about this game, from the references to the absurdity of it. Thank you for this little masterpiece !

Thank you so much for the nice feedback! I also loved point & click games back in the day and still do :D

(+1)

This was deliciously strange in all the right ways. Lots of fun!

Thanks again for playing! So happy you enjoyed it :)

(+1)

A very interesting game. It's weird in a good way. I recomand it!

(+1)

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked the weirdness :D

(1 edit) (+1)

Quite charming! I loved the graphics and the music. I particularly liked how new art assets kept showing up through the course of the game (and the animation was great too). It kept me going til the end, and I really liked the length! While it doesn't do a lot *new*, it certainly didn't waste my time, and I appreciate that. Kudos and I look forward to your next project!

(+1)

Thank you very much for the nice feedback! Really happy you like the visuals, audio, animations and game length :) I definitely agree the gameplay mechanics are really simple but glad that didn't make it less enjoyable.

Thanks again! I can't wait to make something new :D

(+1)

It's a rather cute game. I want to keep trying it, but my computer keeps shifting control from its window to something else.  It's driving me crazy. I have two monitors in extended desktop mode. Maybe that's why.
Kudos for making this game 32 bit compatible!  I've tried other games on Itch.io and some are only in 64 bit mode, but they don't always say so. I'd be more inclined to buy games on here if I could tell which ones were available in 32 bit better. If you make a game that requires a cost, please indicate in the description if it comes in 32 bit.  Itch.io doesn't seem to care if 32 bit OS users can figure it out or not, so it's apparently up to the individual developers to help us out.

(+1)

That's really strange... Do you have this problem with any other Unity games?

Oh yeah the default setting in the build options of Unity is x86_64 but I felt like not everyone has 64 bit yet so I changed it :) I'll be sure to build for 32-bit as long as Unity allows it!

I've not had that problem with other Unity games, but then I haven't played a ton of them on my PC.  I sure appreciate you making 32 gb builds.  I'll probably have 64 bit OS eventually, but I'm holding out as long as I can.

Thanks!

I had so much fun playing this game. For anyone who grew up with a Gameboy in the 90's this game is a trip down memory lane. I love all the little references to classics of the past hidden through the story. I also love the funky retro beat. All around I loved playing this game and would welcome a follow up or more similarly retro games. Well done to the developer.  If you want to see first hand what my experience was like you can check out my letsplay.

Thanks again for playing! Left a comment on YouTube :)

Really happy you liked the music, it was the first time I did the soundtrack for a game. Pixel art and retro style are definitely my thing so most if not all future games will similarly styled :)

(1 edit) (+1)

it's an AWESOME game. i found three easter eggs, looking forward for a sequel or something \ (-◡•) /

(+1)

Thanks a lot! There are definitely quite some references and Easter eggs in there ;)

(+1)

I'dont undestand the control

(+1)

They are explained on this page ;)

(+1)

Played this game had an absolute blast! Love the art style was my favorite part. Very reminiscent of old school pokemon. keep up the good work!

Thanks again for playing! Left a reply on YouTube too :)

I grew up with the first generation of Pokémon and Zelda Link's Awakening so those sure were big inspirations for the graphics!

(+1)

Very satisfying experience!!! I wasn't expecting so much detail from it and I especially love the pace of the game where you can constantly feel progression. I love the concept but I feel there's so much potential based on the background of the game, and maybe by adding  QTE, combat or other elements could spice things up a bit.

I really look forward to the sequal!

Have'nt played a game like this since Pom Gets Wifi :)

Thank you very much for the nice words!

I'm not sure myself about things like QTE or combat in this type of game, it's more like a point & click adventure game that were popular back in the day. I'll sure make other type of games in the future that do include combat and other things ;)

Never heard of that game before but I'll check it out :)

(+1)

It was a very good game

Thanks a lot!

(+1)

This was a really entertaining little game. I just smiled when I jumped on the cheese like, oh wow I'm about to be-... yep. cheese. And who ate all the food?? The old man and you are the only ones on the floor hahaha.

Haha, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks a lot :)

Maybe the evil management ate all the food :o

(+1)

I had so much fun playing this! A very short and sweet little game with a lot of personality jammed into every corner. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the game :)
I definitely put a lot of work in it and I'm glad it shows!

(+1)

Really Enjoyed the game. So much gameboy nostalgia

(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing and making a video! I'm really happy you enjoyed the game :)
I'll watch it asap and leave a comment on the video itself with my thoughts.

(+1)

I really can't wait for the next game I will be on the lookout.

(+1)

sorry I apologize about the audio issue

Thanks for playing and no worries about the audio issue :)

(+1)

That. Was. Awsome. Well done Siegfried! More please.

Thanks a lot for the kind words! Can't wait to watch your playthrough :D

(+1)

i loved this a lot!!

very creative and fun, i would pay for a full version totally.

(+1)

Thanks a lot!

The possible sequel will be longer and more like a full game but I'll see what I do for the pricing. I mostly want people to have fun so I love making free games but of course if I want to make game development more than just a hobby I have to think about funding more :)

(+1)

I really liked this game. The style is a lot like that of the GameBoy, and the text box scrolling makes this more apparent.  This is also the first game on the site that I've ever played.

(1 edit)

Thanks a lot! The text scrolling is definitely based on how it was done on the Game Boy, in Pokémon to be specific ;)

I feel honored my game is the first one you played here! :D

(+1)

I haven’t played Pokémon, but what it reminded me of was Link’ Awakening, most specifically “Wow, this looks really heavy, you won’t be able to move it with your bare hands!”

(1 edit)

Oh yeah it's quite similar to Link's Awakening too and it's definitely one of my biggest inspirations! The jumping out of bed is also a bit of a nod to that game ;)

Btw, saw your review too. You can exit the game by pressing Enter to show the ingame menu and select Quit ;)

(1 edit) (+1)

Thanks! I noticed after I beat the game. I told some friends about the game and I’ll let them know if they decide to play it. :)

Thanks a lot for that!

(+1)

What was the old version of the game like? (The one for Ludum Dare 35)

It's called Oh What a Night :)

(+1)

Thank you!

(+1)

What an experience. The art style and the music brought me back to when I was a kid. The puzzles were interesting and a treat to figure out. Although some of the hints were a bit vague, but keeping the play area small helped me figure out the answers. This was a wonderful game and i'm glad I got the chance to play this. I am looking forward to a sequel and seeing the Magickey again.  Best regards mate keep up the good work.

Thanks again for playing! I left a comment on the video itself. If I make a sequel I'm sure the Magickey will be back and hopefully he'll be in a good mood again ;)

(1 edit) (+1)

Nailed the Gameboy style. Was fun and hilarious. Just a thing: The secret code part seems like a bit hard/unfair as someone already suggested. Actually the "getting a pizza" part could apply the same argument...

Final thoughts:

  • The crazy room theme is a masterpiece.
    • I actually want it as a ringtone for my phone xD
  • Are sleeping pills made of... cats?!

Good job!!

(+1)

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked the style and my absurd sense of humor :)

Yeah, that part was a bit confusing, the "man browsing a bookshelf" on the painting was the clue but the problem is that you got the hint before knowing what you needed it for... I felt like the pizza part was easy though I could've been a bit more clear by letting the player say if maybe they can order one somehow though that might be too obvious.

I'm really glad you liked that tune :D It's my first time making the soundtrack of a complete game!
Hmmm... maybe? :O

(+1)

About the pizza part:

The telephone guide was, probably, the first thing you interact with in the game. This leads to a situation in which you don't remember it enough to associate it with Pizza delivery, but if you say something like "If I could order it somehow..." it would be totally clear.

What if... when the player interacts with the telephone guide the first time, lists some of the phones in it? Like... "A telephone guide, hm... plumber... food... mom.... but I don't even have a telephone."

(+1)

Some people actually got it right away, it's a bit of a set up and pay off. I do think it could be fixed by adding that part to the dialog :)

I don't think that would help much unless you add "pizza delivery service" to it but I like the fix above more.

(+1)

Very creative! Love it!

Thanks a lot!

(+1)

Thank,s for this short but nice game!

I am honored to support you!

-LG "Fir3" from Seppi-Gamestudios

Thank you SO much for the download donation!!! It really means a lot!

Good thing you mentioned "Fir3" or I wouldn't have known it was you :)

(+1)

Really enjoyed my time with Nonsense at Nightfall. It's writing is quirky and I liked that it took about 30 mins to play. Some of it gave me a Link's Awakening vibe. Hope to see more in the future either be a sequel, longer game or an episodic one.

M A Y B E    I T    W I L L    B E    A    N I G H T M A R E

But seriously it was good fun.

(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing and making a video of it! I'm really happy you enjoyed it :)

Link's Awakening is definitely one of my inspirations and all time favorite games!

(+1)

Thanks for the reply, glad you liked it.

You got good taste in games.

(+1)

I don't normally play games from itch.io, but this was a really fun little game. Part of this game's charm is definitely its randomness and reminiscence of old Nintendo styled games. I absolutely loved this game, and can't wait to see more from this developer! My only helpful critiques of this game would be, next time include a "Control" tab which will tell you how the controls are mapped, and for more text to be displayed at once. I really do recommend anyone who's scrolling through the comments here to give this game a chance!

(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing and making a video! It was a lot of fun to watch :)

You're definitely right about that, I shouldn't expect people to read the controls on this page, haha. I'll sure keep that in mind for my next game ;) One thing I'm considering for the sequel is to go widescreen, maybe use the GBA's resolution (240x160) instead of Game Boy (160x144) so I have more room for text from left to right + 3 lines of text without covering too much of the gameplay. Thanks for the feedback!

(+1)

Once again, really, thank you for checking out my video. I do like the 4:3 ratio, it helps a bit with the nostalgia feel, but if going to the 16:9 ratio will help get more text on the screen at a time, then definitely go with that. The game was really fun to play, can't wait to see what you come up with next! :-)

(+1)

I'll definitely experiment with it a bit and see what looks best! Thanks again for your feedback :)

(1 edit) (+1)

What a fun game!  I enjoyed it a lot!  Good work!

Thanks a lot for playing, commenting and rating!

(+1)

Excellent job. Great example of a fun puzzle game with all the boxes checked. Well done.

Thanks you so much for playing and the nice comment!

(1 edit) (+1)

I saw this in Reddit somewhere, I'm glad it was actually a game.

EDIT: Pressing Enter or F does nothing in the game menu :(

(+1)

Thanks for trying the game!

If you haven't figured it out yourself yet: H is the main interact key ;)

Yeah, that took a while to find, and Z and S for up and down is bizarre on a QWERTY keyboard.  What layout are you working with?

The controls are explained on this page ;)

Walking around works with both the arrow keys, WASD and for people with an AZERTY keyboard (like mine), where A/Q, Z/W and more keys are swapped) that becomes ZQSD.

(1 edit) (+1)

It was a really cool little game, it was welll written, i laughed because the game points out many little thing that come from games but are not in this one. There were also references that i got and it made me smile.

I've just one last thing to say, the game is good, i recommend it, it a great experience

I hope that the dev will make a sequel !

(+1)

Thanks a lot for playing!

Really happy you enjoyed the references, there are quite a few of them in the game ;)

I sure have many ideas for a "sequel" so look forward to that!

(1 edit) (+1)

Great job Siegfried! You did an excellent job with this game :)

(+1)

Thank you so much, my friend! 🤩

Deleted 5 years ago

Thanks a lot for playing!

Isn't turning it off and on again the first thing you try to fix something? ;)
I'll watch the whole thing when all parts are online!

What poll are you talking about btw?

All fonts in the game are custom made by me :)

(1 edit) (+1)

The poll is in the video, so yeah, you should see it near the end, in the part with the mouse cheese temple thing. Also, both parts are out now, sorry about the audio quality after the phone call part.

Found it! Didn't even know polls like that were possible on YouTube!

No problem about the sound :) Thanks again for playing!
